The easiest description of a ceramic coating is that it is a protective layer applied to a surface that, once cured, has the natural characteristics of "glass."
These coatings are primarily found in either Silica Dioxide or Silica Carbide formulations, with a couple of different variations here and there. These tiny particles are extremely fine and form a thin layer that is completely invisible to the naked eye. They are able to fall into the natural pores of the paint and, once cured, create a surface that is hydrophobic, UV and chemical resistant, and able to handle much higher temperatures than a wax or a sealant.
