HAIL DATA · FRONT RANGE, COHow often does it actually hail here?
Between 2021 and 2026 the National Weather Service logged hail on 19 to 36 separate days near each town AUTOSTREAM360 serves, with the largest stones measuring 2.75 inches near Denver and Aurora. The full count per city is below, with the method and its limits stated in plain terms.

METHOD
How these numbers were counted.
Stated in full so the figures can be checked, argued with, or reproduced.
Where the data comes from
Every figure is counted from the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information Storm Events Database (ncei.noaa.gov/stormevents), the public archive the National Weather Service compiles from trained spotters, law enforcement, emergency managers and the public. We used the annual detail files for 2021 through 2026.How a report gets attached to a city
We kept every Colorado record with an event type of Hail that carried map coordinates, 2,394 reports in total, then counted the ones falling within 12 statute miles of each city centre. No report is assigned by county, because three of these towns share Douglas County and would otherwise show identical numbers. What a report is, and is not
A report is one observation of hail at one place and time, with the stone size estimated against a familiar object. It is not a measurement from an instrument grid, and no one logs hail that falls where nobody is watching. Why we show hail days separately
One storm produces many reports, so a raw report count measures how much got written down as much as how often hail fell. The hail-days column counts separate calendar days, which is the better guide to frequency.Known limits
Report counts track population and spotter density, which is part of why Denver shows the highest total. City radii overlap, so the columns cannot be added together. 2026 is a partial year, current to the September 2026 file. Stone sizes are estimates, not measurements. Why a body shop publishes this
Customers ask how often this happens here, and the honest answer is a number with its source attached rather than a sales line. The data is public, the method is above, and anyone can rerun it.FAQ
Questions about the data.
How often does it hail in the Denver metro?
Near Denver the NOAA Storm Events Database logged hail on 28 separate days between 2021 and 2026, from 238 individual reports within 12 miles of the city centre. 199 of those reports were an inch or more across.Which town on the list gets the most hail?
By separate hail days, Centennial and Parker top the list at 36 and 35 days. By raw report count Denver is highest at 238, though that partly reflects how many people are there to report it. Both numbers are in the table above. What size hail actually dents a car?
Damage usually starts around one inch, roughly a quarter. Below that, hail more often strips leaves than dents panels. The table shows how many reports near each town reached one inch and 1.75 inches.Which dates did it actually hail?
The totals above cover 2021 to 2026 as a whole. The hail date lookup lists every individual date hail was reported within 12 miles of each town, with the number of reports and the largest stone measured that day, which is what you need to open a claim. Can I reuse these figures?
Yes. The underlying data is public domain from NOAA (ncei.noaa.gov/stormevents). A link back to this page is appreciated so readers can see the method and its limits.FREE, SAME-DAY ESTIMATES
Hail already got your car?
Photograph the roof, hood and trunk in daylight before you wash it, then send photos of all four corners plus close-ups. The estimate is free and usually comes back the same day.
